Dieser Tempel, der sich ganz in der Naehe des Jagannath Tempels in Puri befindet , wird auch "Das Haus der Tante" genannt.Das beruehmteste Festival Puris, das Rath Yatra, steht auch in Verbindung mit diesem uralten Tempel.Gott Jagannath und seine Geschwister werden mit Kutschen in den Gundicha Tempel gebracht und bleiben eine Woche.Hier ruhen sie sich aus und werden dann wieder in ihren Heimattempel gebracht.Die 14 m hohen, sechsraedrigen Kutschen werden von Glaeubigen durch Seile gezogen.Der Gundicha Tempel ist die Sommerfrische fuer diese Goetter.
