Das Ahmednagar Fort

Description:
Dieses 500 Jahre alte Fort wurde von Nizam Ahmed Shah im 15. Jahrhundert gebaut. Der imposante kreisförmige Bau hat eine 18 m hohe Mauer mit 22 Bastionen. Ein tiefer Wassergraben rund herum schützt das Fort vor feindlichen Angriffen. In diesem Fort, kaum 1 km von der Stadt Ahmednagar entfernt, hatten die Briten Jawaharlal Nehru festgehalten. Und hier als er in Haft war, schrieb Nehru sein Meisterwerk The Discovery of India (Die Entdeckung Indiens).
