Hier beweist sich, dass Patna eine der aeltesten Staedte Indiens ist.Die archaelogischen Fundstuecke von hier geben ein gutes Bild der Vergangenheit Patnas ab.Die Ueberbleibsel der politisch wichtigen Stadt Pataliputra ( 600 v.C. bis 600 n.C.) wurden hier ausgegraben.Die Rekonstruktion erwies sich als schwierig, da die meisten Gebaeude aus Holz gebaut waren.Allerdings hat man auch die Reste einer grossen Saeulenhalle aus der Zeit der Mauryas, ein buddhistisches Kloster, Teile des Anand Bihar und einige Tonfiguren und hoelzerne Pfeiler gefunden.All dies stammt aus den Zeiten Ajatshatrus und Ashokas (300 v.C.).
