Diese kleine Stadt nennt sich auch "die Glockenstadt". Die Einwohner leben umgeben von Mauern, da Patan auf einer Kreuzung der Caravanrouten lag. Am Ufer des heiligen Chandrabhaga wurde Jhalara Patan von Chandra Sen, dem Enkel des Maharaja Vikramaditya gegründet. Oberst James Todd berichtete, dass er 108 Tempel hier gezählt hat. Der bekannte, aus dem 10. Jahrhundert stammende Surya Tempel ist 100 Fuß hoch und hat schöne Skulpturen. In der Nähe befinden sich eine Gruppe von Tempeln auf der Böschung des Chandrabhaga. Diese wurden zwischen dem 6. und dem 14. Jahrhundert gebaut. Der aus dem 11. Jahrhundert stammende und von Jhala Zalim Singh gebaute Shantinath Jain Tempel und der Dwarkadheesh Tempel sind die wichtigsten.
