Description:
Dieses ist eines der groessten und am besten erhaltenen Forts in Kerala.Es wurde wahrscheinlich im 17. Jahrhundert von Sivappa Naik von der Ikkeri Dynastie erbaut.Spaeter ergriff Hyder Ali die Macht, und nach ihm die Briten.Dieses guterhaltene Fort hat einen Wachturm, unterirdische Tunnel und ein Teil der Befestigungsanlage liegt unter Wasser. Das Fort beansprucht eine Flaeche von 35 acres fuer sich ,liegt direkt am Meer und man hat einen wunderbaren Blick ueber den unendlichen Ozean.Durch seine 300 Jahre alte, bewegte Geschichte ist das Fort auch fuer Archaelogen interessant.
