Barmer liegt 153 km von Jaisalmer entfernt. Die heutige Stadt wurde von Rawat Bhimaji an der Seite eines felsigen Hügels gegründet, auf der Ruinen einer alten Festung stehen. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten hier sind der Tempel von Balarikh (Sonne), mit einem Idol aus Holz und die Ruinen Juna (oder alten) Barmers. Dieser Ort ist besonders für Archäologen geeignet. Barmer ist bekannt für Hand-Druckformen, holzgeschnitztes Möbel und bunte Kleider.
